Space Music

Past Event

In this special musical extravaganza, astrophysicist and Venusian Volcanologist Dr Antony Brian joins Australian Baroque to take you on a multi-sensory journey through space and time.

REVIEWS:

“Visions of the universe and an ethereal string orchestra” - David Cusworth The West

“Brian’s closing narration proves a fitting end. He recounts stories of astronauts visiting the Moon, bursting with curiosity about its landscape and atmosphere, only to arrive and find themselves overcome by the beauty of their own far away little blue planet turning softly around the Sun. Space Music was an opportunity to marvel, both at wonders made at home and those in the dizzying expanse we occupy." - SeeSaw Magazine

Audience reviews:

“Absolutely AWESOME, I was awake all night thinking of my own insignificance in the universe”

“Literally THE best concert I have ever been to”

Age range: 4+

Australian Baroque: PERTH BASED ORCHESTRA

Australian Baroque is a national ensemble formed at its core by WA-based artists. We are world-class players with a spirit of investigation and historical inspiration, bringing you stunning classical music programs, live concerts, and immersive projects. Some of our series include Vivaldi’s Four Seasons by Candlelight, Perth Summer Orchestra Camp and our flagship music education program the Perth String Project.

The ensemble formed in December 2018 was resident Ensemble in Residence at the WA Academy of Performing Arts, ECU, recorded by ABC Classics and were resident in a Recital Hall home at 505 Newcastle St, thanks to their partnership with AHG for 2020/21. In 2023 Australian Baroque was recorded by Tall Poppies and filmed by Master Performers.

Being part of the WA community is central to the aims of Australian Baroque. This is not just an orchestra for the concert hall.  Our aim is to build significant and long-lasting ties with both regional and metropolitan communities, performing in galleries, schools, museums, Men’s Sheds, churches, cafes and town halls. Having held residencies in Margaret River and Narrogin, our 2024 residency is in Shark Bay.
