Firebreak Notices
All landowners and occupiers are required to carry out fire prevention work in accordance with the Firebreak Notice before the 1 November each year, and these works must be maintained until the end of the autumn restricted burning period.
In brief, for all properties under 2000sqm, your land must be cleared of flammable materials; for properties over 2000sqm, you must install a firebreak 3m wide, cleared of flammable materials to a height of 4m.
For all town properties, all grass must be no higher than 5cm, and residents must ensure all roofs, gutters and walls of buildings are free of flammable matter.

Failure to comply with the ‘Fire Break order’ may result in the issuing of a modified penalty from the Shire.
