Bogan Shakespeare - Romeo and Juliet

Wednesday 10th July 2024

'Bogan Shakespeare' asks one question and one question only; what if 'The Bard of the Avon' had been born today in WA. What if we could take timeless prose and make it timely. What if we could take the academically dense and make it genuinely accessible. What if Shakespeare but funny as f**k.

A satirical retelling of the most iconic of Shakespeare’s works, Bogan Shakespeare is accessible to any audience, whether you’ve read all thirty-seven plays, just watched the Baz Luhrmann movie or haven’t seen a show since that horrible two hours you spent watching your 14-year-old nephew in his school play. This show has something for everybody. Fancy a love story? We got you. Love your sport? So do we.

Like a cheeky murder from time to time? Who doesn’t. Bogan Shakespeare will give you everything short of a never-ending packet of Tim-Tams, and believe me-we tried that one too.

Two households, both alike in dignity, in fair Ellenbrook where we lay our scene. One a Dockers family the other an Eagles family. On the eve of the fabled finals derby. From ancient grudge breeds new mutiny, where civil blood makes civil hands unclean. Basically, it’s about to kick off, you get the idea.
